A YouTube to MP3 converter that lets you choose the quality
Most YouTube to MP3 sites hand you one file and hope it’s good enough. YouTubeToMP3 works more like a tape deck: you load the video, listen to a few seconds to make sure it’s the right one, then decide how the copy should sound. 320 kbps for your best headphones, 192 kbps for everyday listening, 128 kbps when space on your phone is tight, or a lossless FLAC/WAV file for editing.
Everything happens in your browser. There’s no software to install, no browser extension, and no account to create.
What you can save from a YouTube video
| Format | Best for | Size of a 4-minute song |
|---|---|---|
| MP3 320 kbps | Best-sounding MP3, music on good headphones | about 9.6 MB |
| MP3 256 kbps | High quality with a little less space | about 7.7 MB |
| MP3 192 kbps | Everyday music on phone and car stereo | about 5.8 MB |
| MP3 128 kbps | Podcasts, lectures, audiobooks | about 3.8 MB |
| M4A | YouTube’s original audio, no re-encoding | about 3.9 MB |
| WAV / FLAC | Editing in Audacity, GarageBand, FL Studio | 10–40 MB |
| OGG / OPUS | Small files for Android players and games | 2–4 MB |
MP3 is still the format every device understands: phones, car stereos, smart TVs, old MP3 players, DJ software and video editors. If you’re not sure which format to pick, choose MP3 at 192 or 320 kbps.
How the conversion works
When you press Convert to MP3, our server reads the public video page, finds the best audio stream YouTube offers for that video and turns it into the format you picked. The file is streamed straight to you; long videos don’t make you wait for a full conversion before the download starts. The download link stays valid for about ten minutes and nothing is kept on our side afterwards.
Preview before you download
Ever saved a song only to find it was a live version, a cover or a 10-hour loop? The Play preview button on the result card opens a privacy-enhanced YouTube player right inside the page, so you can check the track first. Nothing from YouTube loads until you press it.
Honest note about “320 kbps from YouTube”
YouTube streams music at roughly 128–160 kbps (AAC or Opus). Converting to a 320 kbps MP3 keeps everything that’s in that stream without adding new losses, but it can’t create detail that YouTube never sent. That’s why we show the real file size for each choice and let you decide. Many people can’t hear a difference above 192 kbps, which saves about 40% of the space. Read more in our 320 kbps guide.
Why people use YouTubeToMP3
- Quality you choose. Six MP3 bitrates plus M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG and OPUS, all in one result card.
- Clean pages. No fake “Download” buttons, no redirect chains, no forced pop-up windows hiding the real link.
- Phone friendly. Big buttons, a paste button that reads your clipboard, and files that land where you expect them. See the iPhone and Android guide.
- Shorts work too. Paste a /shorts/ link and get the sound of the clip; details in Shorts to MP3.
- The video is one tap away. If you need the picture after all, the same card offers MP4 files.
What to use a YouTube to MP3 converter for
Good uses include listening to your own uploads offline, keeping a lecture or sermon for a commute, saving royalty-free and Creative Commons music for a video project, turning a podcast episode into a file for your car, or cutting a practice track for a music lesson. Music labels upload many songs that are protected by copyright; for those, a streaming subscription is the right way to listen offline.
Tips for the best result
- Use the original upload. The official channel or the artist’s own upload usually has the cleanest audio; re-uploads are often compressed twice.
- Avoid “1 hour loop” versions unless you really want a 60-minute file.
- Match the bitrate to the content. Music: 192–320 kbps. Speech: 96–128 kbps.
- Rename the file after downloading if you’re building a library; most players read the file name when there are no tags.
